Baking the Best of
Mary Lee's Desserts! Recipes from 15 years of baking outrageous cupcakes, cakes,
cookies and more!
15 Years of Baking Bliss
I've missed baking for so many of you and especially baking for the former cafe at Bards Alley Bookstore in Vienna, Virginia since my retirement in August 2019.
I had 15 wonderful years owning and operating Mary Lee's Desserts and baking both small and very large orders. Everything I made was baked to order by me, and I was always so honored to have my desserts included on holiday tables, at parties, weddings, corporate events, and for the Human Rights Campaign's Chefs for Equality Galas in Washington D.C. (swag bags, baby!).
How My Cookbook Came to Be
It's no secret that I never gave away a dessert recipe (only to David Hagedorn for the Washington Post!). But the pandemic gave me a new perspective, and in 2020, I knew I wanted to capture all of my recipes into a book, but that I didn't want to profit from it.
It took me 1 1/2 years of hard work to write my cookbook so that anyone/everyone would be successful baking from it. And they have been!
My cookbook is a full-size softcover, with over 220 pages, including beautiful color photographs. It retails for $45.00 and is available on several sites, with purchases directly from BookBaby yielding the most profit for me to pass forward.
Passing It All Forward
"Baking the Best of Mary Lee's Desserts" was published in December 2021 and includes over 85 of my best cupcake, cake, cookie, tartlet and morning treat recipes, plus cherished family recipes.
I've been very specific - brand names listed and easily understood directions given.
Having covered all professional design and publishing costs myself, I am donating ALL profits from each book sale to three amazing charities:
World Central Kitchen
The Trevor Project
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Over $12,700 donated to date!
